Role Purpose
We’re looking for an experienced Credit Control Manager to lead our credit control function, overseeing a portfolio of c.1,000 client accounts. You’ll manage three Team Leaders, leading a team of around 20 people, and play a key strategic role within finance. Reporting to the Head of Credit Control, you’ll help shape cash collection, credit risk, and team performance at scale.

Key Areas

  • Lead and develop three Team Leaders, ensuring consistent performance across the credit control function.
  • Oversee credit control activity across a high-volume, high-value client portfolio, ensuring timely collections.
  • Manage a diverse debt book using appropriate strategies based on risk, value, and client relationships.
  • Review and manage credit limits and policies in line with business risk appetite.
  • Drive cash collection strategy and DSO reduction, setting targets and tracking progress.
  • Produce clear KPI and performance reporting for the Head of Credit Control.
  • Build strong relationships with sales, account management, and client finance teams.
  • Identify and implement process and automation improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Manage credit risk and bad debt provisions through regular portfolio reviews.
  • Support the development of scalable credit control policies and best practice.

People Management

  • Set expectations for PDPs, appraisals, and regular 1:1s, with at least two formal reviews per year.
  • Coach and support individual and team performance to maximise productivity.
  • Promote a customer-focused culture with clear accountability.
  • Keep teams informed through regular communication on performance and priorities.
  • Act as an ambassador for our values, creating a positive and supportive team environment.
  • Champion wellbeing and healthy work–life balance.

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in credit control or accounts receivable management.
  • Proven experience managing people 
  • Strong background managing high-volume, high-value portfolios.
  • Working knowledge of ERP and accounting systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Sage, NetSuite).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive, solution-focused mindset with confidence to influence.
